For users in the European Union, European Economic Area, and United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following lawful bases under GDPR Article 6:
Your data is yours. We take special care with the trading strategy data you upload:
Your uploaded trade data is used solely to provide you with analysis and insights within the AlgoChef platform.
Aggregate & Anonymized Data We may use anonymized, aggregated data (with no personally identifiable information and with strategies combined across users so that no individual strategy can be reconstructed) for product research and development, statistical benchmarking, academic or industry publications, case studies, and marketing materials. For example, we might publish that "the average strategy in our dataset has a Sharpe ratio of X" based on aggregated data across all users. This data cannot be traced back to you or your specific strategies. The full scope of this license is set out in our Terms of Service.
Where We Store Data AlgoChef is operated from Canada. Your data is stored on secure servers provided by our infrastructure partners (primarily Supabase and Vercel). Data may be hosted in Canadian, US, or EU regions depending on the service.
How We Protect Data
Data Retention
In the event of a personal data breach that affects EU/EEA/UK users, we will notify the competent supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by GDPR Article 33. Where the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will also notify you directly and without undue delay, consistent with GDPR Article 34.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:
Service Providers (Subprocessors) We use the following third-party subprocessors to operate the Service. Each is bound by a data processing agreement (DPA) and only accesses the data necessary to perform their specific function:
| Subprocessor | Purpose | Hosting Region |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage | US / EU |
| Vercel | Application hosting, serverless compute | US (global edge) |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery | US |
| Sentry | Error monitoring and performance telemetry | US |
| Microsoft Clarity | Anonymized session replay and heatmaps | US |
| Rybbit | Privacy-friendly product analytics | EU |
We maintain this list current and will notify users of material changes (e.g., adding a new subprocessor with access to personal data) at least 30 days in advance where required by GDPR.
Legal Requirements We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to:

AlgoChef is operated from Canada. When you use the Service from outside Canada — including from the EU/EEA, United Kingdom, United States, or elsewhere — your personal data is transferred to and processed in Canada and, through our subprocessors, potentially in the United States and the European Union.
For EU/EEA/UK users: The European Commission has issued an adequacy decision for Canada (Commission Decision 2002/2/EC), which recognizes Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) as providing an adequate level of protection for personal data transferred from the EU to commercial organizations in Canada. Transfers from the EU to AlgoChef in Canada therefore do not require additional safeguards under GDPR Article 45.
Where our subprocessors are located in jurisdictions without an EU adequacy decision (for example, the United States), transfers are governed by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved in Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914, together with any supplementary measures required by the Schrems II judgment.
By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to these transfers.
